The third and final round of the 2024 Ulster Cyclo-cross Series took place on Sunday 17 November 2024 at Palace Demesne in Armagh. This was the 7th year that Square Wheels has hosted an event in these stunning grounds. As before, the youth races up to Under 12s were held in the gardens of the Palace which was the former home of the Archbishop of Armagh.
The main course started up at the car park and finished in the parkland near the event village. The lead up to the race was relatively dry with the course in good condition and running well. There were just a few slippery corners which did catch out some riders. Race day was a cold damp start with some light drizzle during the youth races. The forecasted rain did arrive around 11 am and was in place for the Under 14s, 16s and Women. The rain did pass and we were left with scattered clouds with hardly any wind. A great day in Armagh.
There were 12 riders lined up for the Under 6s fun race which was held over two laps around a short course in the garden. There were chocolate goodie bags at the finish for them.

A big thanks to Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Council for the use of the site and their continued support of the race. A huge thanks to all at Square Wheels for creating the courses, marshalling, timekeeping, catering, supporting, breaking down the course and all the other jobs that happen in the background. That’s the end of the Ulster series but not the end of the cyclo-cross season. Next week we are off to Tipperary for the National Series Round 3, the week after we have the World Cup in Dublin and the week after we have our Ulster Championships up in L’Derry hosted by Foyle CC.
