Race categories (2023-2024)

Parents NOTE: – The Under 6s race is just for fun.  It is an introduction to off-road racing. There are no winners, no podium, no medals.  It is all about the achievement of starting and finishing. Parents can run alongside if they wish. If you child can complete the course with ease and is ready for the next challenge please have them try the Under 8s race instead. There is no lower age limit on the Under 8s race.

MEN’S A’ RACE: Within the men’s Cyclo-cross race there will be prizes for the top 3 men in both the A and B races, and within the A’ race there will also be prizes for the first unplaced junior, , first unplaced M40, first unplaced M50 and first unplaced M60.   There will also be a team prize in the A’ race  (see below).

TEAM PRIZE – For 2023/2024 we are continuing with the Team Prize for the Cyclo-cross A’ race. Condition: There has to be three teams of at least three riders before a team prize is awarded. The first 3 rider team to finish wins a small cash prize. Teams can be made up of riders who are Juniors, Seniors, M40, M50 or M60. This is based on position of finished riders (1st = 1, 2nd = 2, 3rd = 3 etc.)  The team with the lowest combined points for 3 riders wins the prize.

WOMEN’S RACE – In the women’s Cyclo-cross race there will be prizes for the top 3 females as well as the first unplaced junior and first unplaced Master (40+).

B’ RACE – The B’ race is the “fun race”. It is for juniors and adults and is aimed at novices/beginners and those riders who would finish over 2 laps behind the winners of the A’ race. There will be minor prizes for the top 3 men. To ensure that the B’ race remains for this group, riders who podium (1st, 2nd or 3rd in any race) will be forced to ride in the A’ race for the remainder of the season. Riders who finish in the top 10 will have their points accumulated towards an upgrading score (“Upgrading points”). Those who accumulate 350 points will be forced to ride in the A’ race.

(Riders who rode in the A’ race last season can take part in the B’ race this season if they feel their form is not where it was last year)
